How it all started

Meet Layla, A charming Chiweeni

In February of 2020, Five year old Layla began yelping in pain when being picked up.  Her Mama, Erin took her immediately to the emergency vet who prescribed medication. Layla only got worse to the point she was only able to move her front paws. An MRI revealed a disc issue and surgery was recommended. Erin was missing work to stay home and care for Layla so money was very limited, then Covid 19 layoffs began and made matters worse.

Erin's sister Jen started a GoFundMe campaign to help raise money for Layla's surgery.  Jen's friend, Michelle saw the fundraiser and contacted Jen directly to ask how she could help.  Together they decided this is a prevalent and growing problem as more and more people no longer have jobs and are at risk of losing so much. During difficult times, our pets are such an important support for us. Every year, millions of pet owners are faced with having to make unimaginable decisions based on the financial costs of veterinary care. A term known as "Economic Euthanasia" is becoming more prevalent as pet parents end up surrendering their pets or euthanizing them because they can't afford to ease their suffering.  We created Love, Layla to help fund the costs of unexpected veterinary care. Because of generous donations, Layla was able to have her surgery and is doing great! We want to create more happy outcomes like Layla's.

How we help

"If having a soul means being able to feel love and loyalty and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans."  James  Herriot
